Kadampa Meditation Center Maryland is a Temple dedicated to bringing peace and happiness to the world, and to removing suffering, through offering the methods of meditation and modern Buddhism.  Now more than ever we need strong minds that stay peaceful free from stress, anxiety, and anger.

Our main activities focus on offering meditation classes open to everyone. Regardless of beliefs or background everyone can benefit from these teachings without exception. The Temple welcomes people from all faiths and those that do not subscribe to any faith. We also benefit others through our daily prayer sessions that are open to everyone and are free.

Typically once to twice a year we benefit others through engaging in a fundraiser.  This year we will be kicking off our annual fundraiser with Giving Tuesday on December 3rd.  Our fundraising goal is $12,000. We will celebrate the end of our fundraiser on December 31, from 7-9:30pm, with a New Year’s Eve Party:  Living with Joy.

GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world.  It is based on the concept of radical generosity - that suffering of others should be as intolerable to us as our own suffering.  In Kadampa Buddhism this is what we refer to as universal compassion. From universal compassion comes a Bodhichitta wish to remove the suffering of others through our actions of body, speach, and mind.  With this fundraiser we all have the opportunity to take action according to our means.  No matter what amount you give you will be helping Kadampa Meditation Center Maryland continue to provide the meditation practices that can ultimately remove the suffering of all living beings.

What projects are in need of funding?

This year we have a number of maintenance expenses we are planning for.  Some of these items include:

  • Saving up for a new boiler for the temple: our current boiler is very old and could quit on us at any time.

  • Chimney liner for resident house.

  • The center vehicle is in need of $1500-2000 in repairs.
