New Year’s Day Silent Retreat: Meditations to Nourish Your Body and Mind

Start your year off right! Give yourself the treat of developing mental peace and relaxation to fortify yourself for the New Year. Refresh your body and your mind with a day of silence. Settle in with the first meditation, then enjoy a healthy vegetarian lunch in the World Peace Café followed by two more nurturing meditations.

Participants will remain silent, while the retreat teacher will guide the meditations and give practical instructions on how to nourish our mind and body in each of the 3 sessions. 

Due to this retreat being silent, we will only have the registration desk open until 11:20am.

To Register for In-Person Experience: Space is limited so please sign up early! Walk-ins are welcome as space allows (must arrive by 11am).

Cost: $40-- or $30 for early registration (by Dec 23rd), students, seniors 60+, and unemployed. Lunch is included. Free for members at Supporter-Level and Benefactor-Level.

About the Teacher: Gen Kelsang Chogden is a Buddhist nun and Resident Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Center Maryland.

Gen Chogden has been practicing Kadampa Buddhism since 1998 under Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, who gave her the title “Gen” indicating that she is a senior ordained teacher of the Kadampa Tradition.

Gen Chogden is well-loved for her warmth, kindness, and wisdom, which have come from her sincere and heartfelt practice of Kadam Dharma over many years.

Her teachings are always practical and easy to apply to everyday life. Through her gentle and joyful approach and her peaceful example, she has helped many people find true happiness in their hearts.
