Heart Jewel Practice:  A Weekend Retreat with Guest Teacher Gen Kelsang Norbu

  • Kadampa Meditation Center Maryland (map)

The essential practice of Kadampa Buddhism is a daily practice of Heart Jewel Prayers with Lamrim meditation.  This is the defining characteristic of a Kadampa Buddhist.

Heart Jewel is a chanted meditation that is a method for receiving attainments through the practice of the Guru Yoga of Je Tsongkhapa.  It also contains prayers to our Dharma Protector, the wisdom Buddha Dorje Shugden, who protects our tradition and removes obstacles from our own spiritual practice.  In this weekend retreat, we will learn how to use these chanted prayers as a guided meditation that connects us with our Spiritual Guide and deepens our understanding of the Lamrim (stages of the path) meditations.
